Ballyclare Link Road
holm is investing £25 million in a modern infrastructure route connecting the Templepatrick, Doagh and Rashee arterial routes to create a modern link into the existing road network. This will place the Westlands development only 15 minutes away from Belfast, the International and City Airports and the major ports of Northern Ireland.
The Westlands Link Road will start from the south at the Templepatrick Road, where a new roundabout and bridge over the Six Mile Water will be provided. This roundabout will act as a gateway into Ballyclare from the M2 and Ballyrobert, and will provide connection to the Doagh Road.
The Link Road will be designed as a 40mph single carriageway, with a footpath on both sides and a dedicated cycleway on its 'town' side. Trees will be planted along the entire length of the road, which will mature to create an attractive tree-lined boulevard.
A secondary route will be provided from the Link Road to connect to the Rashee Road, and will serve Readers Park as well as provide a secondary access for one of the retail and service hubs.
